DIY Wood Block Utensil Holder

You already saw this little project in the post I did about my home office, but I forgot to share the DIY instructions for it. It’s a wood block utensil holder! I got the idea from this toothbrush holder at Anthropologie. But then I got to thinking, why not use it to hold other things too, like pens, pencils, and paintbrushes? This project is sooo quick and easy, literally anyone can do it. And the materials are really cheap (there’s a good chance you already have them at home), so no excuses!

How to make a wood block utensil holder

All you need is a block of wood. Then drill three holes equal distance apart and stain the whole thing with some wood stain.

Toothbrush holder

Once the stain has dried, your block is ready to be used! You can definitely use it to keep toothbrushes upright. It would be cute to paint the bottom half a bright color, too.

Or you could do like I did, and use it to store your paintbrushes!

Easy, peasy--my favorite kind of project. Let me know if you make one! I’d love to see a photo.

Great at a bedside for pens. Put a loop on the side to hold your reading glasses. Cute and functional. My favorite.

Hey, I could do this! I've seen things like this at Homegoods and whatnot, but this really does look so easy!

This is really cute! I think it would also be cute with dried flowers. Looks like I need to learn how to use a drill...

Haha! Yes. You can totally handle a drill. Most power tools scare me, but a drill opens up lots of project possibilities, so it’s a must-learn :)
