Decorating Resolutions

Every year, I like to set myself some big, overarchingĀ goals for the year, as well as some smaller, fun "resolutions" that are easy to accomplish. For example, last year I got my first balayage, signed up for a gym membership, and hosted my first Friendsgiving (among other things). This year, I decided to pick some simple resolutions related to decorating. I chose five specific goals that I'm excited about working on, and confident that I can successfully finish this year. In fact, I've already tackled #3--the guest room! It's good to think about the big things you want to accomplish and change in your life...but it's also worthwhile to write down fun little things. It's kind of like a "30 before 30" list. By keeping your to-do items light-hearted, simple, and super doable, you get the satisfaction of actually crossing them off your list! Which feels sooo good.

Decorating resolutions

Check out all five of my 2016 decorating resolutions over onĀ Bali Blinds, so you can keep me accountable. And I'd love to know, do you set yourself fun goals for the year, in addition to serious ones? Do you have a "30 before 30" list? (or "40 before 40", etc.)? If so, what are some of the items that you're looking forward to checking off?

we just moved into our new home 8 weeks ago and ive done so much already. but its a big house and theres so much left to do. im not a big resolution person, but i have been trying to be really intentional about the things that ive done. i didnt want to just paint all the walls only to realize in a year i hate all the colors and need to do it again, ya know? so its a weird mix of getting things done and feeling like its going to take forever. lol but i love just thinking about ideas and letting them marinate for awhile too, ya know? and actually living in the space and allowing that to change my direction at times.

I know what you mean! I think decorating is a mix of being intentional with your design choices, while still allowing some room for spontaneity. It's great to know your personal style, but it would be boring to just follow the same formula over and over. Congrats on the new home and all the changes you've already made! That's super exciting.

Great resolutions!! It's good to have just the right amount so you can accomplish them. :)

Exactly! The best motivation to keep plugging away at your goals is to reach milestones along the way and feel that satisfying sense of accomplishment.
